SFR and Orange France went for 3G spectrum


News:

May 20 morning news, the French telecommunications regulator of electronic communications and postal Authority (ARCEP) announced that the French mobile operator SFR and Orange were given a 2.1GHz frequency band of 5MHz and 4.8MHz for additional spectrum.

From January to Free Mobile (Note: France's Internet Service Provider Free mobile assets) presented the fourth 3G license, the Electronic Communications and Postal Authority noted that there are 5MHz and 4.8MHz 2.1GHz frequency spectrum available.

Application procedures to obtain additional spectrum from the February 25, 2010 release, May 11 Days before three applications are Free Mobile, Orange France and SFR. The whole spectrum auction process is divided into two phases, the first is 5MHz, and 4.8MHz.

Final SFR to 300 million euros (C114 Note: approximately 370 million U.S. dollars) was 5MHz spectrum, and select the host mobile virtual operators (MVNOs) in the commitment level 1; Orange France to 2.2821 billion euros (281.5 million U.S. dollars) was 4.8MHz spectrum, also chose carrying mobile virtual operator's commitment to Level 1.

With this additional spectrum auction, the French regulatory authorities have to achieve two purposes, namely a substantial increase in the mobile virtual operator's living environment and bring huge revenue for the government.

It is understood that in January this year, Free Mobile won the fourth 3G license in France, for 5MHz of spectrum available to pay 2.4 million euros (296 million U.S. dollars). Market share in France according to the ranking order of the top three mobile operators as France Telecom's Orange, SFR and bouygues Telecom (Bouygues Telecom)
